How is it possible to combine principled conviction—the sort of conviction people show on issues such as religion or morality—with intellectual humility about those very convictions? How does one remain loyal to personally held beliefs while also being open to exploring the limits of one's knowledge and views? How can one be both open-minded and dedicated to a cause? What are the individual and collective barriers to productive public discourse? Team members are charged with exploring the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that can be deployed in the public square to overcome these barriers and create a more meaningful public dialogue.
