We are pleased to announce that Charles V|R, represented by project team collaborator Michael Young, has been selected as one of four finalists in this year’s Fast Pitch Competition at the Charleston Library Conference!
“The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection development librarians, and many, many others. Begun in 1980, the Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to almost 2,000 in 2017.” (Charleston Conference website)
Michael Young will join Molly Rainard of Auraria Library, Devin Savage of Illinois Institute of Technology, and Travis Rich of The MIT Press as they compete for a $2,500 prize, sponsored by the Goodall Family Foundation. The Fast Pitch Competition is, as described by Steve Goodall, “Shark Tank meets American Idol.”
“Recognizing and rewarding new innovation in academic library and information management”
Members of the Charles V|R team will be attending the conference and presenting the project during the Poster Session on the evening of Friday, November 7th. The finalists of the Fast Pitch competition will make their presentations on the morning of Thursday, November 8th. Congratulations and good luck to all of the finalists!
